Statement from the Episcopal Women’s Caucus
on the Election of Gene Robinson

The Episcopal Women’s Caucus celebrates the election of the Reverend Canon V. Gene Robinson as bishop coadjutor of the Diocese of New Hampshire. Bishop-elect Robinson is widely recognized as a fine priest and will be a great bishop. His qualifications are superb. His openness about the fact that he is a gay man living in a committed relationship during the process gives hope and inspiration to countless women and men in similar situations as they get news of his election. How appropriate that this happened on the eve of Pentecost. The quiet courage of the people of New Hampshire in being open to the guidance of the Holy Spirit is an inspiration to the whole Episcopal Church as we approach General Convention.
