Dean George Werner wrote a brief essay on the HoB/D list this morning arguing that we are stewards, rather than owners, of parish property. The essay comes at a time when it is widely anticipated that nasty battles over property are about to erupt in the Diocese of Pittsburgh (or, as some might put it, in the Dioceses of Pittsburgh). Dean Werner kindly gave me permission to reproduce his post, to which I have attached a brief introduction. You can read “Stewards, Not Owners” on my blog at http://blog.deimel.org/2008/10/stewards-not-owners.htm.

Best regards,
Lionel
